Hi,

Today I got the results from my MRI and it is a sarcoma, I have a CT scan booked on Wednesday to see if it has spread. It is 9cm. And I am terrified, trying to process this is the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I am so scared of getting the results from the CT scan next week as I can only imagine it won't be what I want to hear. How long do results take after a CT scan?

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

Waiting for the results of tests and scans is a very stressful time but, as I'm not a member of this group, I don't know how long it generally takes for CT scan results to come back.

Responding to you will 'bump' your post back to the top of the discussion list and I'm sure it won't be long before a group member pops on to help.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis  into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi

Sorry you have this worry, my wife has Leiomyosarcoma and well understand the process of when we first heard the diagnosis. Perhaps you could ask when you have the CT scan as to when you might expect the results. I hope you have seen the pages here on soft tissue sarcoma. It notes the specialist sarcoma centers a list of which we can see here we were lucky since Oxford is our local hospital anyway.

My wife had two lots of chemotherapy and that managed to make her cancer stable and now she has been living with cancer for over 10 years.

Do you have anyone supporting you? We often hear people talking about feeling very lonely but on here we get how hard this can be and it can be amazing how chatting on here can help.

Hope the CT result might not be as you fear though one thing we know - worrying about it does not change the result.

    <<hugs>>

  • Hi,

Thank you for your kind words. I have support, just don't know what questions I should be asking, my head is just all over the place. I think I'll read more posts, try to understand it all better, see where I am after the CT scan, then I may be more clear on what questions I have.

I hope you wife is doing well x
