I'm new here and looking for a little advice

I've recently been having tests as I've been feeling extremely fatigued and not right in myself.

The Gp has done every test going and my Stool sample test came back positive last week.

I'm booked in for an endoscopy next week.

I also had a CT scan last week and thats arrived back yesterday as abnormal.

They've put in the report that a soft tissue nodule approximately 1.6cm is present and so it could be GIST.

I've never heard of this type of cancer and I'd love to hear from anyone that has any advice for me.

The Gp is contacting me today to advise me of my referral.

Thankyou for reading

  • Hi

There is quite a lot of information on gist on the sarcoma uk website here, as you will see it is a rare kind of tumor and that can make finding really useful information more difficult. My wife has Leiomyosarcoma but in her case two different types of chemotherapy managed to send it to sleep so we are living with cancer and have been now for over 10 years.

Sarcomas are normally dealt with by a few specialist centers, we are lucky to live close to Oxford and that is where my wife was first diagnosed anyway.

Hopefully for you it might not even be a GIST - waiting for results though is really quite difficult indeed many find it the hardest part of the entire journey so remember to be kind to yourself.

  • Thankyou so much for your kind reply. I'm pleased your wife is doing well.

Its definitely the worst part ,all the waiting.  I'd like to  keep updating my journey but being new here I don't know if thats acceptable.

I suppose support from people that understand makes things easier.

    Thanks again Steve
