So Hello
I have recently undergone a radical mastectomy following diagnosis of a high grade angiosarcoma, caused by the radiotherapy I had 7 years ago for breast cancer. Allbern a bit of a shock as I am sure you can all relate to. Was getting on with our lives, cancer was behind us, all was good with the world.
I had the whole radiotherapy field removed, fairly new thinking operation, and a 'flap' reconstruction from my back, not to create a boob, just to make it flat. I'm 6 weeks post op now, surprised by how tired I am and how debilitating it has all been . Head is still all over the place. Anyone else had the same? I'm told it is 1 in a million, in fact I remember the radiotherapy nurse telling me that a really rare side effect was it could cause a cancer. Guess I just got lucky eh
Hi Annie sorry to see what you have been through, it is notoriously difficult to diagnose. Even though my original lump was 8 cm - they still thought it was something else and it it took months before it was first removed, then another few before they removed the margins where it had begun to grow again. Even then they were not convinced. My spleen burst June and from there they noticed shadows on lungs, spleen and liver. It is being carried by the blood and is in the bone and bone marrow. I am on 24 sessions of chemo- Paclitax. In their words to give me some quality and time. However I am not thinking in terms of time , I am going with thinking about wellness and enjoying every moment and lots of hope.let’s surprise them.xx
