Waiting Waiting Waiting

I have been told by the breast clinic that the tumour in my breast is a sarcoma. I was sent for further scans waited for the results for them and the told by the breast consultant I will have to be referred to Birmingham.

I now feel like I'm staring into the void, it's been almost 2 months since I discovered this lump and I haven't got a treatment plan. Has anyone had a similar experience.

I'm trying to keep a lid on the anxiety.

  • Hi

Sorry to hear about your issues, waiting is never easy at any stage and to hear you have a rare form of cancer can make like more difficult. My wife has Leiomosarcoma and her journey to diagnosis was complicated and to finally get a diagnosis seemed something of a relief.

As sarcoma is rare there are a few centres that specialise in the treatment as you can see here.

I know we hear all the time about the importance of getting treatment early but mostly that is to get people to go to their GP and get on the path. Hopefully your appointment will come through soon but even then there are likely to be more tests to work out the best treatment options for you - it is frustrating and it really helps to ask questions like "when should I expect to hear..." so we are not left in that void.

  • Hello

Thank you for sharing your experience, I have had breast cancer twice and I suppose I am expecting the same treatment pathway and timescales. As you rightly pointed out this is different and rare. Thank you Blush
