Hi all,
I am new here. I had a tumour removed from my right lung nearly 3 months ago and the pathology report has finally been published. I was told it was a rare form of sarcoma called intimal sarcoma. I looked it up and am confused as I remember the surgeon saying the tumour was only attached to the middle lobe of my lung, which he removed a good margin out of. I don’t remember him mentioning it being attached to an artery. Am I misunderstanding something here? The consultant I saw did say it was very rare to get diagnosed with that but that he had every confidence in the lab… I am so confused now and worried too.
Has anyone been diagnosed with this following a total resection of a lung tumour? And has anyone ever asked for a second opinion on the pathology results?
Thank you!
Hi Jess29
My wife's sarcoma is very different to yours but like all sarcoma's are rare. Normally care would be covered by one of the sarcoma specialist centres - we were lucky in that my wife was being treated in Oxford anyway and they did quite a lot of work before they eventually identified Leiomyosarcooma.
There is a page on intimal sarcoma on the sarcoma uk website that might be useful.
<<hugs>>
Steve
