Sorry no...not heard of this one

  • Hi Annie,

I had this with carboplatin in 3 week cycles for 6 cycles for carcinosarcoma. Pretty similar story to you of repeated visits to GP over a number of years so it had spread. On removal of the main tumour the surgeon said I’d had it for at least 2 years.
I’m still here 10 yrs later and last scan 2 months ago was clear.

I hope this can give you some hope and help in your battle. Stay strong, it’s difficult when you’re in a dark place. I kept going because of my partner and young son at the time.

Sending you a virtual hug and hope the treatment goes well

  • hi Isabella can I ask where yours spread to

  • Spread to all my lymph nodes in my groin, pelvic and para aortic lymph nodes. I had lung nodules but they remained stable.

I had to have extended field radiotherapy with sheilding to vital organs, which is rarely done now due to the extensive damage it causes. It damaged my small intestine which had multiple obstructions due to radiation damage and I had gastrointestinal intestinal failure and had to be fed intravenously. I had to wait 6 months to have my obstructed small bowel removed as I had multiple pulmonary emboli so couldn’t have a general anaesthetic. Basically I was a wreck. I developed severe pelvic radiation disease affecting bladder and bowel and Lymphodema in both legs all due to the extended field radiation, brachytherapy and extensive removal of lymph nodes It was radiotherapy that caused all my issues not the chemotherapy.

My godsend was my son was at boarding school as I spent extensive periods in hospital. I was never expected to survive as far as 2 years, which is not good to know when you spent all that 2 years in hospital having treatment…..

Please be assured none of my issues were due to the chemotherapy. It was the radiotherapy that caused all the damage.

Try to look forward that there is treatment being offered and stay positive. Advances in treatment mean treatment is better targeted with better outcomes. Positivity is what keeps us going.

The only thing that kept me going was my partner and son. I always believe being positive and fighting wins the battle and it is a battle as you have already no doubt found.

I know you have a young family so can empathise with how you feel.

    The sun will shine again

  • I am ok to be honest if it keeps

me stable I’m good I only have 2 small lung nodules and of the chemo keeps them stable then they will operate. My main tumour has been removed and had 6 weeks radiotherapy so all going well this will be ok as well
