HI, I have just been referred for investigation ? sarcoma due to swelling within my trapezius. Just wondered if anyone has had this?

Many thanks,

  • Good evening DaisyPeach,

Im sorry to hear that you're going through this. I've just been diagnosed with some form of sarcoma myself, which is still under investigation at present. I've read the sarcoma I've got seems to be related to the trapezius muscle in one way, shape or form. So I can fully sympathise with this. Its never nice to have to go through something like this, but its nice there are online forums like this and receive support where needed.

  • Hi both and welcome to our little club. My wife's sarcoma is Leiomyosarcoma believed to be of gynaecological origin but that is a long story.

Sarcoma as you have probably discovered is one of the rarer form of cancer and sometimes trying to find someone that is a really close match can be extra difficult.

As well as our really experienced (6 years and counting for my wfie!) friends on here there is also quite a lot of useful information on the Sarcoma UK site including a list of sarcoma specialist centres, we are lucky living really close to Oxford.

My wife never wanted a prognosis when she was first diagnosed and I really struggled with that; she was right though because of the relative rarity the statistics are not really very meaningful.

One of the great things more recently has been a significant increase in awareness of sarcoma meaning people get referred earlier if sarcoma is suspected and that can only be a positive in the long run for everyone.
