Hi. Was wondering if anyone has had a sarcoma removed from their thigh, mine was growing in the muscle ,surgery removed sarcoma muscles and part of my hamstring. I was wondering if the discomfort and pain ever goes away, I know it will never be the same but have not met or spoken to anyone who’s had this type of cancers just want to ask someone is this normal. Hoping someone can spare the time to chat thanks

    Hi Ropen

I had myxofibrosarcoma removed from my thigh in September last year, I had 3 operations in 8 weeks, the last being in the September and still have horrendous thigh pain, discomfort and strange feelings and weakness in my thigh down to my knee, all this is apparently the normal recovery which can take 6 months to year so I’m told.

I do feel very stressed with it all at times as I’m unable to return to work as yet, I struggle to even walk without pain most days.

Although Im very grateful to still be here life is one struggle to cope at times. I just want to walk my dog again.

Hi, I know what you mean. I just had a huge liposarcoma removed from my right inner thigh in January, together with part of one muscle, and one of the main nerves. Docs say it'll be 'back to normal' eventually, because I'm still quite young (34),and always been fit, so the rest of the body will pick up the loss. But I know what you mean, and without being an expert on this, only from my own experience, the body takes A LOT of time to heal, especially if it was a major surgery. It takes time. Try to be patient - I know this isn't easy - and try to rest, and make the best of this time. I do think the pain and discomfort you're feeling is normal.

All the very best. You're not alone in this.

    Hi

I know how you feel and what you have been through. I had surgery to remove spindle cell sarcoma on my left thigh including part of my muscle just above the knee in my hamstring. I wad told as I was young (24) at the time of surgery my other leg would pick up the burden and help balance out everything. It has been 11 years for me now. Yes, life is not the same, but painwise and movement etc my body has learned to adapt so this is all I know now. The first few years were really challenging and even up to 5-10 years after my leg would freeze up in the cold weather and become stiff and hurt if I sat or stood for long periods of time. I cant promise it will all be normal and perfect but our bodies are resilient and make do with how we are. I've had bad times and trying times and good times also. Take it one day at a time and be easy of yourself.

    Regards
