Hi everyone
After 9 months of tests, I was referred finally to soft tissue specialists who requested a PET CT scan and biopsy with ultrasound.
I’ve had a call today from the original hospital who want to see me tomorrow to discuss the Pet scan results. They also said to bring someone with me. I can guess where this is going.
Does anyone have an idea of what exactly they can share with me tomorrow without the biopsy results back yet?
Thanks x
Hi Rob80
My wife has Leiomyosarcoma with a number of secondaries in her lungs. When she had PET-CT scans what gets shown up is parts of the body that are using energy at an unusually high rate - generally cancer cells. There is quite a lot of information you can read about this here.
Fingers crossed for the appointment tomorrow.
<<hugs>>

Hi there. Similar story 9 months testing with my husband, incidental 2cm lymph node enlargement iliac region in Feb last year.. Initially thought prostate cancer. 5 months to rule that out. Eventually decided pet scan and biopsy of the 'lymph node' which by now had grown to 5cm. Pet thankfully showed nothing but signs of cancer in the mass. Biopsy confirmed leiomyosarcoma with a fast track referral to birmingham sarcoma in September.l surgery in November by this time 6cm was going to have bladder/prostate removed but fortunately the mass had not invaded and came out in one whole piece. Had some urethral reconstruction but generally came out unscathed to date. Was up for scans every three months for first two years but had first scan earlier this month and fortunately clear. Got a 6 month break now from hospitals but we will be living with anxiety for life regarding this, been made quite aware this sarcoma has a high chance of recurrence, metastasis wish I could give you something positive but if caught early enough surgery is only way to control this beast. Chemo and radio is used but can be very challenging to beat. Husband sarcoma still unclear where started. Was nit lymph node. They suspected seminal vessicle but they removed that and it was clear. Suspect blood vessel now ! Crossing fingers yours hasn't spread and they can remove with surgery asap. Xx
