Hello all,
Can you possibly tell me what tests you had after you were diagnosed?
Is an abdominal CT and thats all standard?
Many thanks
Shani
Hi Shani
In my wife's case her route to diagnosis was not at all simple with the result that likely the primary tumor had been removed before diagnosis and the LMS was only found in a lymph node several months later.
She had CT and PET-CT scans and for a while was on watch and wait as the cancer seemed to be growing fairly slowly. After a while they decided to try chemotherapy, initially with Doxyrubicin and then a while later with Gemcatabine.
At one point it seemed to me they were getting a bit carried away with the PET-CT since the consultant had said it offered little advantage compared to a simple CT scan but does carry a somewhat higher radiation dose.
For the last few years mostly she has just had simple chest x-rays.
Hope that helps
<<hugs>>
Steve
