Hello all, I hope everyone is doing well. I'm brand new here and just poking around on the internet while I wait for more info and my MRI. I have a lump on my forearm, it's been there years and my doc always told me it was a lipoma. I've got a new doc now and had my annual exam recently. I mentioned it was bit bigger, and she ordered an ultrasound to confirm lipoma. Except the ultrasound confirmed it is NOT a lipoma, and I'm being sent for an MRI, with an without contrast, just scheduled for Monday. If it isn't a lipoma, what else could it be, other than sarcoma? I can't find any info about what else it might be and my doctor has been rather unhelpful with my questions. Has anyone here had a similar situation and found it was neither lipoma or sarcoma? I'm terrible at waiting and having a lot of anxiety, and I'm frustrated with my doctor for not giving me more information or answering my questions. I know I should "try not to worry" and stop looking online! Does anyone have any thoughts for me? Thanks in advance
Hi Traci22
Please try not to worry. It may still be a lipoma and, I don't think your doctor will be wanting to say what it is until the result comes through. It is very easy to read everything on the internet and scare yourself, but it can probably be dealt with without too much trouble anyway then you will have worried unnecessarily. I had an op to remove a tumour which turned out to be attached to my small bowel and was cancerous. I didn't want to take any tablets afterwards, but was persuaded and took them for 6 months, during which I felt miserable. I stopped taking them and decided to take the risk of them coming back, which they did a year later. Several of different sizes. It would appear these are not attached to any organ, but are under the skin across my waistline. I have now been on a lower dose of tablet since June and a scan in September showed they are shrinking. I find being occupied with something interesting can be a great help. If you go to work or have an interesting hobby that could help you to forget about it for a while and help you to stop worrying. I hope you get the result you want soon, so good luck and try to keep busy.
