Hi all
Looking for a bit of guidance. I'm currently going through melanoma testing. I've recently found a small lump in my trapezius muscle. It is around the size of a bit of sweetcorn. It feels hard but I've noticed that seems to be more when I'm tensing the muscle. If I relax the muscle and feel it, it's more rubbery but still defined.
My dr checked and could feel it but suggested I raise with dermatology once my melonoma result comes back.
Does this sound like a potential sarcoma, given it can feel rubbery. It feels like it's slightly grown. The skin around it has swelled but I think that's due to me fiddling with it.
I'm worried leaving it for 8 weeks if a sarcoma is a big risk.
Hi Ashsi
Sorry you have this worry but it is perhaps worth noting that lumps are very common and sarcoma is quite rare. Sarcoma is a hot topic at the moment though so your GP would probably have been keen to get you referred if there were more symptoms.
It is certainly worthwhile taking to the dermatology team - hope you do not have to wait too long for that result and perhaps set a time to see if this lump is growing. If it grew very quickly then that would be a positive symptom to refer to the doctors.
My wife has been living with Leiomyosarcoma now for 6 years - stable but incurable so things are not as bleak even with sarcoma as some might think.
<<hugs>>
