Hi, I have been diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma in my calf, its 8cm and I start radiotherapy tomorrow for 5 weeks, approx 6 weeks after that surgery. From what I've read I'm not really expecting anything from the radiotherapy but am now thinking more about the surgery and what recovery will be like after as the Drs aren't willing to say yet. I was just wondering if anyone else has been/going through similar and what to expect?
Hi Dan8063
My wife's cancer is rather different to yours and possibly the only treatment she has not had is radio therapy though I have certainly seen a number of friends on here who have been that route. One of the issues of course with cancer is while the doctors might be able to give an overview of what happens on average then none of us are average. My wife never wanted a prognosis and frankly I struggled with that but I do not think even the most optimistic of doctors would have given bets on her cancer becoming stable and remaining so for the last 6 years.
One of the issues with sarcoma is that it is quite rare but treatments are advancing all the time. One thing we often find helps is to keep the focus nearer to what we have now and enjoy life - it is sometimes hard but then tomorrow is always another day if we struggled today.
<<hugs>>
