Hi, I’m starting radiotherapy for Basil cell on
on my nose Monday and I’m very anxious and scared has anyone else had this who could give me any advice.
Hi Happypants and a very warm welcome to the skin cancer group which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I haven't had radiotherapy for skin cancer but noticed that your post hasn't had any replies yet. I'm 'tagging' Minnow into my reply as they posted about a month ago about their experience with radiotherapy. Hopefully, they'll be able to pop on to let you know how they got on.
You could also have a read through some of these previous posts which mention having radiotherapy for BCC and reply to any where you'd like to ask more questions.
When I had radiotherapy for a different type of cancer, I found the radiotherapy nurses very good and I'm sure they'll be only to happy to answer any questions you might have and to try and make the experience as good as possible.
Wishing you all the best for tomorrow.
My experience of radiotherapy has, on the whole been very positive.
I have received 20 sessions of radiotherapy for my SCC on left temple as adjunctive treatment following two sessions of surgery before being cancer free.
Treatment was mainly pain free with a little blistering in the final stages of treatment.
Now completely healed and have been signed off by the Oncologist.
I will require some follow up checks over the next two years but, fingers crossed there will be no re occurrence.
When I went for my final assessment after radiotherapy and the lesion had healed nicely. Another cancer was found, this time a BCC on my back. Completely unknown to me as it was not visible. I have received surgery and removal was completed within 10 days of diagnosis. How lucky am I to receive surgery within such a quick time as I realise there are many others who have to join a long waiting list. Cannot fault Nottingham Health Care Trust.
