Bcc on lip

Hello .

I came across this forum and must admit it was lovely to hear and listen to advice from people in the Same positions as me.

I had a Bcc removed from the edge of my lower lip by incision and flap .  I am now 6 months in and wonder if my scar will continue to even out . It does appear to be a small hole where it hasn’t joined properly. It caused me major anxiety and even now I still suffer from going out !
I know this sounds harsh but really struggling to deal with it . I have started having dermapen to try and reduce the scaring but only has 2 sessions and don’t see any improvement yet !’ So I suppose what I’m asking is will it still improve after the 6 months . I have been told to wait 12 months before I can get scar revision .  Thanks all in advance for any reply’s

  • Hi Pauline just wanted to say hello - try not to worry which I know is easier said than done. I have just started CBT counselling for health anxiety which may be of help to you too. Hopefully someone who has been through similar circumstances will contact you soon.

  • Hi Spencer

Just wondered if you've discussed your worries with your surgeon?

    • I had a basal cell removed from my nose last year and was told it would be about a year to fully heal and settle, so it may be that you just need a bit more time.
    • I understand the anxiety as will a lot on this forum but things really do improve in time
  • Thanks so much for your response. It really helps when you hear from people who have gone through the same . Maybe I just need to give myself more time ! Only 6 months in so will hope it co to yes to heal .

    Thanks again for responding

  • Hi Spencer Sorry to read your report.  I had two basal cell skin cancers removed from my face last year. One by skin flap near my nostril and another nasty one right by my tear duct by skin graft.  The healing process did take time but by now you could try hard massage with bio oil which I did and although people tell me they cant tell where they were I know but they aren't too bad.  Don't be afraid to go out - mine looked horrendous and if I saw people looking I would tell them and they became interested.  Luckily when they were at their worse, we were wearing masks so that helped.  Hope things improve for you but ask us anything as we are all in this together.

  • Thanks for your words of comfort ,

it means a lot to hear from people who understand and have been through the same . I will try massage with bio oil and up for trying anything . Sorry to hear that you had to go through the process twice !!! I hope all is good with you now .

    thanks again
