5 weeks ago I had a BCC removed with a plastic surgeon from the tip and right side of my nose with a full depth graft. I have since had the good news that it has been removed with clear margins

After 5 days I started with an infection so prescribed antibiotics. This slowed down the healing so on day 14 at the dressing clinic it was declared it had failed. So then it had to be cleared up with, I think the disposable stitches taken out. It was decided that only option was to wait and see if I started to heal.
At 5 weeks now it is starting to heal and starting to shrink.
I have a small split in my nostril from the surgery that’s now not covered. The option would have been to have a further graft, but I have now been told a flap would be a preferred option to cover the split, either from my cheek or forehead.
I have asked to see how the healing goes then reverue.. My one thing I didn’t want was a flap, but I have seen good outcomes. My other concern is that I have been slow to heal, even my donor site should have healed better!

I'm sorry to read that your skin graft has failed after you had a BCC removed. That must have been very disappointing to discover.
I had a BCC removed from my chest recently but it was closed with stitches and didn't require either a skin flap or graft so I don't have the experience you're looking for. There are lots of people in the group who have had a flap and I'm sure they'd be happy to tell you about their experiences.
When do you have to make a decision on how to proceed?
