Hi I was diagnosed with porocarcinoma on my left upper arm / shoulder where I was also suffering from a frozen shoulder in December 24 . I had an operation and skin graft in January 25 mine was staged at 3 as it had invaded the muscle I am left with a large deep divet I’ve and had 30 rounds of radiation finishing in May . Had a terrible reaction to this and my wound is still yet to heal as of today , 4 and a half months later . I still have the frozen shoulder so it’s been terribly hard recovery wise and sad to see what’s left . Good and bad days but I think after being in fight mode for so long I now sort of feel sad and angry instead of full of life and happy I’m here . Any want else can relate to this especially the body image low self esteem.
Hi Shelley03b90fbe and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I haven't had the same type of skin cancer as you, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.
I've had a look in the group and noticed that Wildcat sam and Albroon22 have both posted recently about having eccrine porocarcinoma. I've 'tagged' them into my reply to you and hopefully they'll pop on and share their experiences with you.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
I was diagnosed with porocarcinoma May 15th this year on the sole of my foot. Luckily I caught it in time. I went through a very poorly managed Mohs surgery to ensure all cancerous tissue was removed, then 6 weeks later had a full body PET-CT scan as recommended by the surgeon. This was completely clear which was obviously a huge relief. I have had a huge hole in the sole of my foot since May, and could do very little but lie down all day and night until recently. I can only walk for short distances even now. Very fortunate to have a lot of loving support from my family, but I feel for you. I can only say it will get better. My wound became infected, the sutures burst, I had two further ops to remove infected tissue, gangrene and necrotic tissue, but then found a doctor who helped me find a way of healing the wound using a swab test to identify which antibiotics would sort the infection, and regular dressings with a gel called Intrasite gel. Suddenly the wound started to heal. The large hole has now almost healed and I am cancer free. One of the lucky ones, but didn’t feel that way for 4 months. Good luck with your recovery. My thoughts are with you
