Hi all,
I wish to prevent recurrence and perhaps also apply it onto anything that looks suspicious before it turns into a problem. What do people here use?
Based on what I've researched I have been using diluted frankincense and thyme essential oils 1-2 times a week (diluted with coconut oil).

I have read some people also use curaderm or aloe vera gel so was also thinking of trying that. Also can you recommend an all natural sunscreen?
Let me know, thanks.

I would only use things that have some scientific evidence of their benefit.

I use factor 50 sunscreen - not sure what you mean by all natural and why that would be preferable. I take a vitamin D supplement due to now getting less sunlight.

I recently came across this study looking into the role of vit B3 (nicotinamide) at reducing recurrence. Although small scale, it seems to show some benefit so I have Started taking it

Thanks for sharing this paper Jules, my reading of the study is that although it is small it is robust and this is a very reputable journal. Comments on the paper from experts in the field are very supportive. I am putting vitamin B3 on my shopping list now!

Hi, I just want to ask what make of nicotinamide you take. There are a few and as it’s not regulated I don’t know which to get. Have you experienced any side effects at all? Thanks.

    Hi

I got them on Amazon. The make says Supplement Tree and they are 500mg. I think side effects are very rare and I certainly have not noticed anything. My excision scar is looking good, no other suspicious lumps and bumps. I have my 6 monthly dermatology check up a week on Tuesday and - with any luck - will be discharged at that point

  • Hi - I saw that study, and thought it was a good idea to take B3 supplements. I also apply a topical B3 and zinc cream on my skin to help to repair sun damage. I couldn't find any articles that said it would do any harm, and it might help! I also use factor 50 sunscreenievery day  Di x

    Hi Jules,
I agree with evidence-based and that's why I use diluted essential oils. Loads of interesting studies on pubmed.

I agree with you on VitD I supplement too.

Thanks for the link on VitB3, I have improved my diet a lot so hopefully I'm getting more B3 than before.
