hi all. Just had my phone call to inform me my mri scan is positive for postrate cancer and bone scan says its outside the postrate. my psa was 505 so I'm pretty much terrified. I'm being booked in next week for a biopsy. anyone had similar psa and what was the outcome. regards dale
Hello golfboy
Great news, that's over and done with, you should be fine with little after effects. I do hope your other issues have cleared up.
The testing and waiting for results is the hard bit of this journey .
You say results day is 5 February, may I ask if this is a telephone call or a face to face meeting as there are questions you need to be asking and we can help you with these.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi Dale, my husband had a high psa if you click on my name you will be able to read his journey but not everyone is the same, he is doing really well at the moment.

Hello Dale (golfboy)
Thanks for the reply. I think it's important you take someone with you to the appointment and take notes. You need to know
* Your biopsy results.
* The treatment plan and when it will start.
There's also our notes QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR TEAM which may help you with other questions you may want to ask.
I think you need to have a word with your GP regarding the continued pain in the ribs.
Best wishes - Brian.

hi all . little update. had my results today , not what I'd hoped for ,they have told me I've got a gleason of 9 5+4. spread to lymph nodes, ribs ,shoulders and spine. also one of my vertebrae has a crack in it .(wondered why I'd got pain ). they have started me on bicalutamide tablets and booked me in for a injection of decapeptyl triporelin this Friday. so the fight starts today.
Hello Dale (golfboy)
I agree, not what you need - treatable but not curable, so at your meeting today apart from the Bicalutamide and Decapeptyl did they mention anything else?
I am particularly wondering if they mentioned either Chemotherapy, Triplet Therapy, or Radiotherapy?
Best wishes - Brian

Hello Dale (golfboy)
It's just being a Gleason 9 and with the spread you have I thought they might hit it hard and fast and put you on triplet therapy. Link here:
Prostate Cancer UK - Triplet Therapy.
Now I am not medically trained and I know this treatment is best started within 12 weeks of diagnosis. Is it worth at least asking your team why you aren't on it and your appointment in 8 weeks is a long way off if you need to start it in the 12 week window.
This is just my thinking - but If I had your diagnosis I would want the best and fastest treatment.
Best wishes - Brian.
