My husband was diagnosed with aggressive cancer and I am wondering how wives are coping. I have fallen apart I'm now on anti depressants.
Can anyone tell me how they cope
Plenty of choice of venues for you then:) our nearest is East Midlands, then Birmingham, then Stansted. I hope you have some lovely plans for the spring/ summer!
It's hard. I got signed off sick last summer ..couldn't handle everything. Gone back to work now. .We are in a lull now. Just taking HT he has aggressive locally advanced. Gleeson 9 n1 . So far the radiotherapy and HT seems to be working .almost a year since diagnosis. I have got used to it . He is very positive but falling to bits physically. Me I am less positive but healthy. I have got used to yet another health issues. So many. I guess like Grief u get better at dealing with it. It's doesn't go away, u just get used to it (the cancer ) being there. I just try and enjoy things as best I can. Xx take care lovely ..and find time for you .
Hello Doris 0h, you have so much summed up how feel! My husband has other health issues. It’s unrelenting - one thing after another ! Except he is Gleason 7 wiith no secondaries. You do get used to it eventually, though. Take care of yourself and I hope all goes well for you both x
Thank you for all the replies, so I thought I would give update we have gone from small tumour non life threatening to assertive to assertive with bony abnormalities we had PET scans and multi mri scans. So we have now been informed that there is no spread he is having brachytherapy, hrt and radiotherapy. I have had to take a month off work I have the most amazing GP who has supported me as work wasn't very supportive. We are looking at the future more positively and take each day as it comes. We have got motorbikes and joined motorbike group and enjoying life and having fun. What the future brings I don't know but we will face it together
Good to hear that things are better than expected for your husband and that you seem to be in a better place yourself. For inspiration on Brachytherapy have a look at Alpine Wanderer who has charted his recent journey on his profile
Keep us updated on progress and, of course, ask any questions.
Thanks for the tag, AWH.
SW - if you look at my bio, there is a link to the longer “surgery or radiotherapy- decision made!” version.
just back from our daily hike and, yes, I still feel great. I have my first post-radiotherapy meeting with my consultant on 8 April. It will be interesting to see what she has to say about how long I need to stay on hormone therapy. I think Mrs AW may be enjoying the “holiday “ too much for my liking
