Just been diagnosed with Prostrate Cancer after an MRI Scan. Very worried.

Kind regards James.

  • Hello James. Even a small amount of blood in the urine can look like a lot and can have a benign meaning, but any unexplained blood does need checking out. Just remember that last time you had this problem it turned out OK. Even IF it is found to be cancer you would not have radiotherapy before Christmas as the waiting list is 3-6+ months from diagnosis and you would need to have other checks before this is confirmed so Christmas is still on for you no matter what. Deep breaths now and take one day at a time. I can understand your fears and we all tend to overthink but I know it is difficult for you. Let us know what your PSA is your last one was still within normal range for your age.

  •   , remember that one drop of blood in a pint of water would look pink.  There are lots of reasons for blood in the urine and most not cancerous.  In the event there is a problem then radiotherapy (RT) isn’t a problem and you really don’t know it is happening.  Best of luck, David

  • Good morning James,

Everybody here knows how difficult, even overwhelming, this can all seem, and you;'re certainly not the first or last to be tempted to throw in the towel. We all have different threshholds - I'm in a really easy place compared to pretty much everybody here, but still I've had my moments.

Just take one step at a time, we're all with you and will support you each step.

  • Thanks all. It was brown/Red sort of Colour. Someone has filled my bin with rubbish and the council won't do anything and the private firms charge £100 to empty it. This is why I am giving up. I have simply had enough of life at 70.

  • I am not medical but brown/red to me indicates old blood, whereas new blood is bright red.  Are you drinking enough water? David

  • Hi James , my OH had a fright a few weeks ago and had “blood” in his urine and poo’s .  He had been eating lots of beetroot hence a change in colour.    Frantic wasn’t even close to how he was . What you eat can cause a change .im not medically trained but kidney stones , UTI  can cause this too .

We are pretty newbies as OH was diagnosed in March but it took some time to see a consultant (July)  . He starts the  radiotherapy pathway  next week and will have 6 fractions starting 3rd December and finishes 7th January

this group are a great bunch so please just fire questions as someone will answer you .

    take care

  • I just got a text from my Doctor. Blood tests were normal and PSA 4.5 That's still higher than my last reading which was 3.95. He also said I should have the tests done but I want to go out the Goth way at my families grave reciting Latin.

. The Council say it's my fault somebody filled my bin up because I did not get it in on time. I cannot phone my M.P because he has gone into hiding and is getting abused because he voted for the winter fuel cuts.

Thank you and kind regards James.

  • If it's not my Prostrate it must be my Bladder or Kidneys.

    Kind regards James.

  • Have just rung the Samaritans and they are not a great help.

    Kind regards James.

  • Worth trying again to see if you get someone else perhaps who can help. David

    Best wishes, David
