Hi all, my husband has Prostate cancer & as far as we know it is on his abdominal node, we were given the diagnosis at Xmas. He has/is on HRT Abiratone & Prednisone. He is starting Radiotherapy next week for 6 weeks. They have explained that it is not curable but manageable. He has moobs, hot flushes & erectile disfunction. The sex issue is horrible for him he is finding this very difficult as although 66 we have a really great relationship. I have also noticed his mood is changing he has less patience and being grumpy & moody and brain fog, I feel he needs to speak to Dr but he’s not keen. The kids & family all ask him how he is & he always says fine. I am the one with him all day, & feel I need someone to discuss all this with. So thank you for taking the time to read this it has helped even writing it down x
Hello Reenie (Reenie73)
Thank you for your post - although I am so sorry to read of your husband's situation. I am also a Gleason 9 and have all the side effects you mention.
Moobs - Sadly if you don't do anything about them at the start of Hormone Therapy you are stuck with them - no one told me and I have a fine pair!
Hot Flushes - I had bad ones - Sage Tablets cured them for me, although the don't work for everyone, it's worth a try.
Fatigue & Brain Fog - When I felt tired I just took the dog for an extra walk, it worked and kept me active. I was starting to forget "stuff" so I have a note book and I jot down important things I need to remember.
ED (Erectile Disfunction) - Yes, I have it still. Lorraine (Mrs Millibob) and I have found other ways of having "fun". Here's a link to a thread you might want to read:

Radiotherapy, here's another thread that you might want to read:

Not curable but manageable.
Those wonderful words that describe so many. But are they helping you? It’s an awful situation you find yourself in and I like he have a partial understanding of that phrase but it doesn’t help much.
What helps is that worried face trying to smile back at me every day from my Darling. In this case it’s your smiles that are better than any medicine.
As a man that has only ever wanted or had the help of “one” all my adult life, it’s only to her that I can cry and hug and kiss and feel ok in her arms. It’s very hard for me to contemplate my future like most everyone else outside of cancer can, but my future is with my Darling, always and forever.
You will find the strength and words to get by, step by step. It’s never easy and it’s worse for you to keep everything glued together but you can. We are here and there’s others who you can talk to who can do a better job of support than me.
Keep you head up and hug him where it don’t hurt.
Good luck.
Hello Reenie (Reenie73 )
I decided I am on enough medication so I am content to have my own "moobs". It's possible though to speak to your own GP who should be able to prescribe medication to stop any further growth (it's Tamoxifen).
As Hormone Therapy usually gives your weight a boost - I put on over 3.5 stone in 3 years - a healthy diet helps, but even with a healthy diet I was putting weight on and i get lots of exercise as I do plenty of walking with or without the dog. I am back on Hormone Therapy again and as my consultant doesn't want me to put on any more weight she has asked my GP to prescribe Ozempic - the weight loss jab. In 15 weeks I have lost over 1.5 stone.
I hope this helps.
Best wishes - Brian.

The moobs didn’t grow but I was to check for not only moobs but lumps (breast cancer) so keep an eye out.
As for the munchies let it happen, there will be times when you don’t feel like eating and the weight will drop off. So unless it’s a massive problem I’d just keep an eye.
Good Luck
