Same here my wife has been great about it,I don't have incontinence, but just every few weeks I can't stop running to the toilet then after a week or so I'm fine for another while,it's the ed I can't deal with.

  • Depression,

I done a course at my local Maggie's last year about "Living with and beyond Prostate Cancer".  I learned a lot in the 6 week course.

In one of the sessions, they explored ED.  There are implants you can get that go into your Penis.  Then you have a button to press...and... instant erection.

One of the guys had the implants put in for incontinence.  Whenever he wants to pee...he presses the button.

It has totally changed his life, no more incontinence worries.

The one for erections could change your life.

I don't know how to go about getting one.  Ask your Oncologist or Cancer nurse if they can help.

10 years is a long time.

Hope you can get something sorted out soon.

    Thank you

  • Thank you all , I have been talking to nurses on here when he was first diagnosed, will try again

  • Hi Depression and Aluna, a few years back i had a big mental breakdown (suicidal), i went to my GP who referred me to my local Mental Health Team. They were brilliant, they taught me DPT Skills mindfulness awareness. Since been told i have prostate cancer, i have used these skills to help me mentally. I had my prostate removed on 22nd December, and have had some very dark moments since. Please talk to someone, ask your GP if they'll refer you to your local mental health team or as Ulls has mentioned talk to the Macmillan Help Line they really are a great help. The first step to ask for help is always the hardest and you both have achieved that. We are always here if needed.

  • I agree with you whole heartedly, I was part way through my attempt when my wife found me, local mental health out reach team started the ball rolling, I still contact them if I feel really down, otherwise I use my counciling lesson's to keep my head straight.

    Thank you

  • Hello there, I am about to go through the operation process and recognise the mental challenge over the physical one. Both are tough to be sure.

I am training to be a solution focused hypnotherapist, and am looking for people to help, forming a case study pack to obtain accreditation through the NCH. All sessions are free and just require an hour a week of your time, if you would like some help, I can help you move forward?
