This is for anyone who can't keep on the topic. It's hard not to stray, but if we have 'no specific topic ' we can't go off topic.
It is good just to be able to wander and talk about other things.
I could have named it 'Waffle'. Then I couldn't go off topic.
I suppose that too much concentration on PSA, scans etc is psychologically preventing moving on and getting on with the rest of our lives? Does the prostate ‘regenerate’ ( for want of a better word) after the radiotherapy?
Hi WW, the answer to your question is yes the prostate can recover but it takes time,
Does the prostate ‘regenerate’ ( for want of a better word) after the radiotherapy?
My understanding is that it does recover and the "dead" cells are absorbed back into the body. I can't remember where I read this now but I'll try to find it.
Seamus - I asked the Radiologist the other evening - "what happens to the dead cells". She said that the body's immune system deals with them and that's why while it's dealing with the dead cells and fighting the radiotherapy you have the side effects. Sounds good to me - but if someone knows better.......
Brian.

Under the NST banner I just wanted to tell you all that I have been taking part in the Prostate Cancer UK "Run the Month" challenge. I don't run but I do a lot of walking and rowing and a bit of swimming too. The challenge was to move a marathon (26.2 miles) during January. I did this in 2022 and managed a double marathon so set my sights a bit higher this year on a triple marathon (78.6 miles). I did my last walk yesterday and topped out at 83.49 miles so very pleased with that. Not too bad for 75! I have now set a target of moving 1,000,000 metres (that's 1000km) throughout 2023 and I'm already one-eighth of the way there!
It's 18 months since my last Prostap injection in June 2021 and my last two PSA tests have both come back as 0.2, so I'm currently in remission.
It's been a long hard journey but I hope that brings some comfort to all of you who are currently undergoing treatment.
Fantastic! Well done! And, most importantly, it does bring hope
