This is for anyone who can't keep on the topic. It's hard not to stray, but if we have 'no specific topic ' we can't go off topic.
It is good just to be able to wander and talk about other things.
I could have named it 'Waffle'. Then I couldn't go off topic.
Ouch! How on earth could they 'lose' ashes? This would have devastated us and I can well understand that it must have been 'hard at the time'. It's true when they say that 'time heals'. It does - but there is always that empty space within the family, isnt there? Fond memories help, though!
Hi Steve,
Thanks for asking and sorry to be slow with the reply. You asked about the outcome when we saw the oncologist yesterday.
It was a routine appointment but there was a blood test and we are awaiting the results of that for psa level - which is the main way they are monitoring things. Booked in for a further bone scan and another scan to see how the cancer in the liver and lymph nodes are doing. This will be at the NY and the consultant suggested some medication for the hot sweats. When we pick it up I'll tell you what it is. Unfortunately the sage tablets didn't work for my OH. He treid them for a couple of weeks.
We found out what the surgery is for. Back in January the GP thought a lump in his groin might be a hernia. This was identified before the PC diagnosis and the consultant (who wasn't aware of this because the NHS is not joined up) said we should still go along to see about this. But my OH doesn't want an operation.
He also had a dentist appointment for a fractured tooth today - which he hated - he hates having anything done to his teeth and he could feel the adrenaline affecting his heart. So he's feeling miserable - cancer, heart failure, hernia, tooth problems - all coming together, and the first three only diagnosed in the last year. He feels as though his body is breaking down. That's hard for a runner and someone who was so fit. It's okay though to feel miserable sometimes though. You can't keep your chin up all the time.
Thanks for caring.

Tell him to ask for adrenaline free anaesthetic. I always do. I used to use relaxation techniques etc when at the dentist then, immediately the injection went it, my heart would race and I would feel really panicky. My friend told me it was the anaesthetic doing it and to ask for adrenaline free. Works a treat and hardly anyone knows about it. I still hate the dentists, but don't have that awful buzz when they numb the gum.
Brian, I can't seem to go back more than two pages from the original page I have clicked on. Is there a reason for this. Sometimes I need to go back in the thread as may have missed something, and I have to come out and look for the email link to go to that page.
Gina, Jenny,
What is a Dentist? They used to assist with your dental care! I'm still on waiting lists. What do you have to do to be treated?
The worst thing was when I had to get an injection right at the front of my mouth! Then it was slavers for a few hours after.
At school I used to see the school dentist. Used to swap my Beano & Dandy comics.
