I am on Arbiritone / Zitiga. I have been on 1000 milligrams per day for last six months. I am finding the side effects of fatigue and breathlessness difficult to deal with.
Is anyone else having similar issues?
Hi Tonykins ,
I've been on Abiraterone 1000mg for 21 months so far, I don't have any breathlessness, but the fatigue is very significant. I take a few naps throughout the day to cope, and try to keep as fit as possible with resistance training, going to the gym twice a week and lift to failure, as it helps control the fatigue.
On the plus side, the treatment works and my PSA is undetectable.
Hope this helps

I was on Abiraterone 1000mg and the fatigue was so bad that they have reduced it to 500mg and they are going review it in September
My PSA is currently below 0.04 which is the lowest they can test for
Maybe you could have a word with your consultant to see if they could try a reduced dose.
I still get fatigue but not as bad as when I was on 1000mg
Thank goodness, I thought it was me. on 1,000mg a day for the past 6 weeks, I am relatively new to this journey. I take mine when I first wake up, to allow for breakfast. I can almost set my clock to sweats after 45 minutes. The further I go with this drug, the more fatigue I encounter. I do feel keeping active helps me get through it.
My PSA is currently 0.14, down from 49. I also understand that the NHS do not prescribe for my current state, aggressive, stage 3, still encapsulated. However, we have funding to cover my prescription within my hospital. So I do feel fortunate to be receiving it. (prescribed for 2 years)
There obviously is not an easy pathway through this difficult journey. Best of luck.
I had dreadful hot flushes with Zolatex. My oncologist suggested Provera, a female breastcancr drug. Amazing, I don't seem to have the flushes now.
My PSA fluctuates between 6.1 and 6.3.The oncologist is satisfied the cancer is undercontrol.
Still fighting it after eleven years.
hi there
been on abiraterone now for over 6 yrs along with 12 weekly zoladex injections .
i have the usual side effects but i don't know if its one or the other , or the combination of both that cause the side effects !!!
i do know that exercise if its only walking can help the fatigue symptoms .
i still work as a gardener and go to the gym as well, 100% that keeping busy helps
try and fight through it things will improve .
I have had the arberitone reduced to 750 mg each day. Hopefully this will reduce fatigue and breathlessness.I would love to exercise having been a keen sportsman all my life. However, at 78 with diabetes and constant vertigo, exercising is difficult.
I have an exercise bike which I find useful for hanging my clothes on.
