This is for anyone who can't keep on the topic.  It's hard not to stray, but if we have 'no specific topic ' we can't go off topic.

It is good just to be able to wander and talk about other things.

I could have named it 'Waffle'.  Then I couldn't go off topic.

  • Hello Gina

You know I was going to add a post to this thread over the weekend as everyone had been quiet - but not as quiet as I thought.

I am sorry to read of Richard's "issues" but he's in the best place for help and to be honest there's not much more you can do for him - you do need to look after yourself.

As for parking at the hospital - Mrs M goes quite a bit and Salford Royal has issues with parking and I use one of the "Parking Apps" - I just rent someone's drive near the hospital for about £4 for an afternoon. Turn up , no issues in parking, space assured and a nice walk in to hospital - no worry about parking.

We have drug dealers in the park behind our house. The local police know they are there and who they are but to move them on may cause a "turf war". Modern society eh!!

As I said above, look after yourself and if I (Macmillan) can do anything for you in the way of support please let me know. Enjoy the long weekend.

    Kind Regards - Brian xx

  • Thanks Brian. Where there is a will, there is a way. I have now decided to go in the last half hour before the visiting ends and then stay till the queues go down. Unfortunately, the last couple of days, other people seem to have cottoned on to my ruse, so queues still bad. However, I have found another area where there are occasionally spaces and that does not entail driving around the one way system and no waiting to get out. Just have to be lucky to get a space but positive thinking seems to work!!

  • Aaaww Gina, you are amazing to be coping with all Richard’s problems!
your side of the county might be full of drama but here, on the Western front, all is calm!!!!

lovely to hear from you and- keep away from those plants:)

  • It's great to finally feel so positive after the horrendous year last year when husband was diagnosed. We are now booked up for cruises into 2026. I am sure I need more dresses. Where did husband hide his credit card? Lol

  • I hope you have managed to find the sparkly shoes this year to go with those new dresses. With all these new cruises it's essential in my opinion to update your wardrobe.

  • Oh yes, lots of sparkly shoes and new dresses are safely in my wardrobe

  • Gina, so sorry to hear about all of your problems with Richard, a lad I used to work with had a similar thing but he was drunk, he ended up in a hospital in Dublin for over 2 months, nearly lost his arm in the process.  He's ok now.  I felt guilty at the time as I was his line manager and okayed his holidays to Dublin.

This will make you laugh: Can't remember the last time I was stiff in the morning!

Glad Richard is coming around again, even after a week of your food!

    Take care of yourself!!!

  • Hi Gina, just checking in to see if you are ok.  How's Richard doing?

    Steve (SteveCam)

  • Hi Steve, love the stiff joke!

He's still in Peterborough hospital moaning like mad. He wants to come home all the time but can't grasp that he isn't able as can't walk unaided yet. They are waiting for a bed to come available at a rehab facility.  I'm hoping he can go back to Rutland Memorial, which saves me a 36 mile round trip most days to visit him.

I asked his carer to go and visit him on Wednesday to give me a break and apparently he wasn't very well. They think it was another UTI, but the results aren't back yet.

Now hoping to goodness that I manage to get to Kos at the end of September.  If he is out, I have arranged our carer to come in 3 times, a day but who knows how mobile he's going to be. It seems he just needs to build his strength up again, but each time he's ill  it's like one step forward, two back.

Hey ho, at least the cannabis has gone from next door!!!

  • oh, Gina, have you got through that stash of cannabis already ?!!!!!! (only joking!!!)

Sorry to hear that Richard is making such slow progress. If he can't get into Rutland Memorial for rehab - is there an alternative in Stamford?

Fingers crossed you get your holiday to Kos.

And.... ice cream? Leicestershire and Rutland kids are now back at school! However, I fully understand the pressure you are under so don't feel under pressure to come over to my side of the county!!!
