Well you wake up with a call! Cancer then an urgent bone scan! My day is not great

  • Stuart,

It'll be the"unknown factor".  It was the same before my biopsy and bone scan.

Once I get one session out of the way, I should be a lot better in myself (if you know what I mean).

  • Train Crash,

I bet she knows already but is scared to say anything to you.

  • Its really important to talk to family and friends asap. Share your anguish. Mine was a blood test result with a high PSA in a phone call from the Doctor. Two days later I was diagnosed with suspected cancer and brought the clinic to a halt whilst I was given urgent Hormone Therapy and was spoken to by a Macmillan nurse. It's whirlwind and it takes time for it all to sink in.

It’s so staggering hearing these stories! I think for me the statement “ you have cancer” shuts all conversation out! I am scared that so much had happened with two procedures a cat scan an MRI and a bone scan and not told anyone! I have been bleeding for three months and again my fear is! How after all this can I sit my wife down and share all that had happened and what is coming. It had shocked me as an entrepreneur when nothing I can do can take it away!  Then the wait which is awful just thinking about surgery oncology and everything else

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis.

In my case my wife was by my side from the first referral to a consultant urologist, through all my treatments and I couldn't have managed without her. For example, when I was having radiotherapy she drove me to the hospital every day for six weeks and waited patiently outside (not allowed in due to Covid).

If your wife was unwell you'd want her to share that with you, surely? You're online sharing your news with strangers, and I know that can make things easier, but your love ones need to know, and however much you consider yourself self-reliant, you need them to know too.

    best wishes for your treatment

Yes I do wish I had told her straight away but now it seems I have a huge story to share and know it will cause her pain to know I have been to eight appointments on my own! So tough time ahead

  • I know that when I was told, I was there, but not there.  The doctor was telling me, and it was when I saw my partner burst into tears it hit me.
