On his GPs blood tests, P showed to be low in folate. The GP didn't seem all that bothered, but prescribed a 5mg supplement to cover it. I've since read that taking folate can encourage progression of prostate cancer, so he's not taking it until we're sure. Anybody have experience of folate deficiency or the risks of taking a supplement with advanced PCa?
"A 10-year study showed that the risk of prostate cancer was increased in men who took 1 milligram (mg) supplements of folic acid. However, the risk of prostate cancer was lower in men who had enough folate in their diets."
So in general, better get folate from diet than tablets.

I can find nothing about effects on men who already have prostate cancer. Sounds a bit like shutting the stable door!
