Hi all,
Apologies if this has been posted before (I couldn’t see that it has). Pure Gym in association with Chris Hoy are offering free 12 month membership for chaps having hormone therapy for PC. Also available is a 26 week exercise program, which can also be done at home.
If you google ‘Pure Gym Chris Hoy’ you will find a page on the Pure Gym website with an email address to request the offer, you will then have to email separately to gain access to the exercise program.
Macmillans also offer a discount (in Hampshire at least) on Everyone Active gym membership, you have to get a form and then get that filled in by GP who then have to refer you. This has been a slow process for me, so I am going to give it a miss and travel further to take advantage of the free Pure Gym offer.
My oncologist told me about the Chris Hoy offer and encouraged me to exercise. I thought I’d share it in case it would be of interest to anyone else.
All the best to everyone on this journey.
Thanks for sharing. On top of everything else we have to think about, it’s not easy to find the energy to come up with an exercise program. Perfect timing for us
Tom (Beard ) thanks for updating your profile. Good luck with your results at the end of the month. I do hope your wife is progressing well. Keep positive.
Best wishes, David
Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.
No Pure Gym near me unfortunately. Has anyone on ADT hormone therapy had any luck in getting a GP/hospital referral to any other Gym chains for at least discounted membership?
Hello All
I have just been reminded (thanks KrisPy) that this offer is still open so I thought - let's bring back the post;
Here's the link you need to join:

Thanks for adding this information Beard and to Brian Millibob for bringing it back up. To be honest I was aware but it had totally slipped to the back of my mind, where a lot of things I should be cracking on with seem to currently reside…! I am now at the half-way stage of 3 years on HT so will be looking to join up when we’re back from our holiday in France and see if the extra weight I’m slowly gaining can be reduced a little, as well as having the other strength / fitness benefits.
Hi everyone
I have recently had the membership through and went along to my local PureGym on Wednesday this week for an induction session and for my first workout! I managed to use several of the machines after a warm up in the open area and felt great that I had actually made the effort to get there and then done some exercise. I made sure that I stopped in good time to ensure I had energy to get home (a bus and a walk UP a hill!).
Felt Ok but stiff the next day - but I had a yoga session booked so that ironed out a few aches and pains.
I think the lesson is - GO FOR IT!!!! (even though it felt like I was old enough to be the grandad of most of the people there!!!)
All the best
KrisPy
