Hi,
just got an appointment through for test results. It’s on the 26 April.
I am wondering as it will be a month after the bone scan next week, if I am clutching at straws thinking that it is good news as such a long wait. If it was bad would we be going sooner.
plus, if it’s good news, maybe he doesn’t have to go for the bone scan next week.
i know I am getting too worked up about all this, but I am struggling a bit with my husband as he has just been diagnosed with a cognitive impairment as well, which we are still trying to get to grips with.
thanks again everybody for your advise and reassurance.
cheryl.
Hello Cheryl (Cabb )
It's a results appointment and the bone scan results will be back by then.
The date would be the same whatever any of the results are - sadly the NHS don't have a priority list for those of us with aggressive cancer such as a high PSA or Gleason 9.
If as (David suggested) on the other thread, you have his NHS records on the app and you have full access to his records, the results letter may well appear under "documents" as the hospital will advise the GP.
If your anxiety levels are building please do give the Support Line a call on 0808 808 00 00 (8am to 8pm 7 days a week), they can help with this.
Kind regards - Brian.

Hi. I had my bone scan last year but the results took ages to come through and I agree it’s an anxious time. I’m pretty sure that if something was found, you’d be called back sooner although until you actually know the result you will be still worrrying. Unfortunately the nhs app is only as good as the people who input the information which in my experience is hit and miss. Cheers. Simon
You are suffering an awful lot at the moment so sit down and have a cuppa. You need to slow down.
There a lot going on in your life and this wait for results is great for you to concentrate on other things.
Theres always a long wait for results normally but at least you have a date sorted.
Deal with what’s happening today, try not to overreach. You will need all your strength for later so pace yourself and take a delay as a time to sit back and catchup with your own life.
Good luck
The results take time to come through.
It is best for them to collect all the results before recomending treatment. when they have done all of this you will have a complete assessment of your position.
Then a Multi Disciplinary Team will review the results and recommend a course of action.
All this happens before your meeting on 26/04.
Once they have done all that and have some clear recommendations there will be a plan, and you will feel better.
In the meantime, find those things which bring your mind to the surface.
That can be anything. For me it is listening to the birds.
Look for all the help you can get. Family, Friends, any group you are a part of..
Talk. Talk to anyone who will listen. Just talking will help. Talking often enough will offer healing. Note that healing is different from cure. Cure is a single event. Healing changes you.
And last, on a practical note given the cognitive impairent you mentioned, talk to your local Social Services about a "care needs assessment ".
It may discover that you need no help right now, but it gets you in the system.
I wish you very well indeed.
God bless.
Steve
