Hi all,
Prostatectomy last September and wondering if anyone can share insights into how erectile function recovers. Nerves were spared. Incontinence is sorting itself out. Is it small improvements over months (length, firmness) or do you get a surprise one morning?
Appreciate revovery could be a year or years.
Cheers
Brian
Hi I had my prostatectomy in 2012 followed by 33 sessions of radiotherapy and 3 years hormone therapy
I was t3 no spread to the nodes gleason score of 9
I am extremely gratfull that im in full remission however the side effects are still with me now both physically and mentally I was 42 when diagnosed and sex life I was a rabbit .
I wish I had more advice for you but its the lesser of two evils
Adrian
Hi Adrian,
I'm pT3a post surgery. Gleason 7 (5% grade 4) and tumour was 5% of the prostate. I was 50 when the fun started last year.
Had a positive margin and now watching PSA like a hawk.
With the erections there's something going on but it's like watching me try to slam dunk. Lots of effort but f all chance of a basket.

Sorry but yep sounds the same and that's me using caverject injections when there in stock in the uk but its all fun we would have cried if it wasn't funny
I hear you, gotta keep laughing.
Consultant I have has me on the tadalafil twice a week. Doesn’t go in for the pump or injections.
Hi BKing02bbf3,
I am shocked that some consultants don't recommend pumps and you might find it's worth a try despite his/her opinion.
I am non-nerve sparing and a pump/injection is my only hope. I gave up on the injections as they are hard to get and frankly I didn't like the potential side-effects. Pumping works fine and adding a ring means I can still enjoy making love. Pumping also helps with the general health of my best friend - at least that was what I was told and my little friend remains in the best health he can be considering.
I hope this helps and hope your recovery continues to go well.
Paul
HI BKing02bbf3
I'm a radiotherapy patient so not quite the same as you but the ED problem is with me as well. My consultant has given me Tadalafil 5mg taken daily which is very slowly having the desired effect. In my profile which you can read by clicking on my name or avatar above this entry you will see that nothing has happened quickly but things are improving slowly.
Best wishes, I hope things improve for you.
