Can anyone explain why my post prostatic psa( no additional treatment) went from .13 to .04 to .06 to .67 ( all 3 months apart) and then 28 days after the .67 reading it was back down to .06?   Thank you !!

  • Hi Bruce, after your prostatectomy, your body still produces a tiny bit of testosterone mostly in the adrenal glands, which can start to produce more when it's the bodies main source of production, but still in tiny quantities, a possible cause for your latest reading, assuming it's not just a blip; may be an issue with your adrenal glands,

  • I would add that all you numbers are extremely low numbers so the margin of error could be called in to play. Also what you did in the last couple of days for exercise could make a marginal change.

If you were tested everyday would that help or hinder?

I would love such numbers and my advice is to relax and get on with your day and dismiss any thoughts of PSA changes under 0.5 unless theee consecutive are upward.

    Have a nice day

  • Hello Bruce (

I have posted a reply to this question in another thread:

     Raised PSA after operation

I agree with Eddie (  too - that's another reason!

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Thank you Mr U.   I appreciate your input as usual.

Hello. I am a 62 year old and was diagnosed with Gleason 7  (3+4) prostate cancer last year (3-2024).  I had a radical prostatectomy 10-2024.  Pathology report showed 1 small positive margin with Cribriform architecture.  No EPE or SV involvement.

  • I met with my oncologist today and he totally discounted the .67 PSA reading and said it’s impossible that it is accurate because it would not fall to .06 in less than a month.  He cancelled my PSMA scan and will check my PSA again in 3 months.   I guess I panicked for nothing but that what this disease does to us.   Best of luck to everyone.

  • Hi  , that sounds quite logical although I still think a bounce is possible.  Either way, great news.  Go back to trying to live normally and ignore the cancer. Like all of us your anxiety will probably increase a week before your next test, I know I still do after 8 years!

    Best wishes, David
