Morning,
Mr BW has comeback from the optician with the news of fast growing “Posterior subcapsular Cataracts” in his eyes. Apparently a side effect of HT medication. I’ve had a Quick Look up and steroids are the main culprit by the looks of it, but also Zoladex could be linked.
Anyone else had this? I’m presuming it’s just a straightforward cataract op when they become a problem?
L
Hi Lorraine, I started on Zoladex 8 years ago and after 3 years was diagnosed with a cataract in my left eye and early start right eye. I had the left done and the right has stabilised. Not heard of the link before, I just put it down to being 70. David.
PS - op was less than 10 minutes and completely painless. Hardest part was applying so many drops.
Hi David2017
Thank you, I’m only saying linked because the optician felt it could be. Initially when BW said cataracts, I said, “common don’t worry about it. Pop your lenses out and you will be fine.” Then he said “ Posterior subcapsular/ fast growing” mmmm . Better just check it out.
He’s doing so well on this medication atm so we really don’t want to change anytime soon.
Worth the trade off really.
Lorraine
