My psa has been undetectable for nearly 4 years but  my testosterone readings are coming in high 1.4 ,my oncologist is recommending a subcapsular orchidectomy operation basically a semi castration of the testicles, now I have been on this forum for over 3 years and I have never seen this operation mentioned at all, has anyone been through it or mentioned it, some say it is a draconian method I don't know what to decide.

  • Good Afternoon

Thank you for your post - I have searched  "subcapsular orchidectomy" and the only mention in this group is in the thread below

Finger joint stiffness and pain (especially in the morning)

I do hope this helps. Please do let us know what you decide to do.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Cheers Millibob, I don't think many men have had it done,  I know if you go ahead with the procedure then you don't need to have anymore injections, my testosterone readings have fluctuated from 1.0 to 1.4 but my psa has been undetectable 0.007, one oncologist says there's no need for it while another says it will bring testosterone readings down, need to give it some thought.

  • Hello

No problem. It's a hard choice to make - I am unsure which way I would jump if I had to make it! Do please keep us updated and best wishes which ever way you go,

    Kind Regards - Brian.

  • Hi MrsG I have a appointment with my oncologist in March and I will discuss with him, I've noticed there's other treatments including oral  instead of injections,
