Husband has just finished 6 cycles of chemotherapy (docetaxel). On triplet therapy. Had consult re radiotherapy and has been agreed to delay til January to allow him to get over chemotherapy etc.
We had previously been under the impression he’d start radiotherapy a few weeks after chemo finished. So I’m feeling bit deflated as thought we’d be over the main treatments and start our new normal in the New Year with possibly a holiday at some point. Have actually forgotten what a holiday actually feels like!!
Husband still working with usual fatigue, hot flashes etc from darolutamide and not happy with loss of taste from chemo.
Forgive me for being so negative today but have mislaid my positivity, although husband remains as positive as ever fortunately.
Thanks for listening to me moan.
You are allowed a moan after this little change to plan but in reality it is only a few weeks away before he can start the radiotherapy. Your husband has done extremely well to carry on working whilst going through the chemotherapy and maybe they have taken this into account. Christmas will come round soon enough and then you can start planning those holidays.
Hi GilliB , your OH has done amazingly to work through chemo. The change of plan may seem bad but will allow his bloods and defences to recover. RT will no doubt be a breeze for him. You are allowed down days (but not too many). In a years time you won’t even remember the delay. Get the holiday brochures out! Best wishes, David
Hello Gilli
i hope things look more positive today for you? We are UK bound at the moment due to a non PC related condition. All I crave is a holiday in the sun!!! However, it sounds as if all is going really well for your husband and the few weeks wait will give him a bit of opportunity to get over the chemo. To put it in perspective, where we live, men are now having to wait, I’m to,d, for up to 10 months for their RT. Someone we know had to wait for 15 months!
I could you treat yourselves to a break in the UK? There are some good offers this time of the year? I don’t want to do this - I want to save our pennies in case we get the opportunity to go far and wide!!!
