Well, that was quick. I chased the medical oncologist (Greek God) up this morning and he has had a pow wow with the radio oncologist, so I was told to speak to him as they both thought hubby was eligible for SBRT on the distant mets. Did this at lunchtime and was asked when we would like it done. Whenever we replied. Got a text at 17:30 to ask if we are available TOMORROW at 15:50 for the planning scan and can we take the PSMA PET scan disc. So all set for treatment starting next week. Having to sort out an apartment near the hospital for a couple of weeks as he predicts it will be 5 sessions on alternate week days.
Great news. You must be very relieved. Enjoy the next few months and fingers crossed PSA stays low and he remains feeling well. David
Best wishes, David
Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.
Alwayshope I had started on the higher dosage of Apixiban (5mg twice a day), that was supposed to be for 6 months but with all the other medication I was on I was kept on it permanently as it reacted with the Phenytoin I am on for epilepsy (no fits in over 30 years).
Could the deep vein clot have started in your hubby's leg? That's where mine originated.
Hope the blood tests go well.
Take Care, both of you.

Hi AH - sounds like you've got a very well thought-out plan. Good, too, that your husband is feeling well. Might I ask how you are doing?
No Steve, it didn't start in the leg as the vascular surgeon did a thorough workup and nothing showed. The cardiologist did his job and no damage to the heart. The fact that damage was seen in both lobes of lungs, plus upper and lower leads them to think it's origin was elsewhere but location unknown. Hubby is one of those oddballs who has to do things awkwardly - he has an odd rare cancer - bloods and vitals appear normal but had pulmonary embolism. GG burst out laughing when he saw us today as hubby is sporting a lovely black eye - me getting the blame for clocking him with a right hook. I will make sure he wears dark glasses when we go out.
Thanks for asking WW. Apart from the normal anxiety with the blood tests and continued insomnia I am doing fine. We have got help for the garden when we need it and hubby insists on taking me out for lunch twice a week now that the weather has settled down so that I don't have to cook, plus he brings me a cup of tea in bed every morning. Our friends have started visiting now that the local airport has opened for the season and this always cheers us up, plus of course, the ice cream parlour is open. Next week is our 28th wedding anniversary so a night out is planned - it only feels like yesterday when the ultimate goal was our 25th but here we are 3 years later and still going strong. Hubby is really hoping that he can have the summer off without some form of treatment and I can see a battle coming if the bloods aren't too good in a couple of weeks time. Qué Sera Sera as Brian would say.
whilst everything is under control.
That tells us a lot. We all know that things can change, but at the moment things are under control.
Onwards and upwards, as you said. A good attitude to adopt, I feel.
Bless you both.
Steve
Changed, but not diminished.
Another quick response which might raise a smile.
I was reminded this morning by my better half that it was 52 years ago today that we first met..........
I am afraid I responded that I had only just worked out it was Friday.
It never ceases to amaze me that she remembers this stuff.

Changed, but not diminished.
Hi AH - I can understand your hubby’s feelings as we went through this last year when everything was going wrong with my husband and he reached rock bottom and said he couldn’t take any more. I think we have to accept these low moments and twists and turns we would rather not have and then just make the most of those interludes of everything going smoothly. I really hope you also get some ‘me time’ ! And…. Congratulations on your wedding anniversary! Enjoy!
Happy Wedding Anniversary for next week.
Fingers crossed for a trouble free summer.
