Well, that was quick. I chased the medical oncologist (Greek God) up this morning and he has had a pow wow with the radio oncologist, so I was told to speak to him as they both thought hubby was eligible for SBRT on the distant mets. Did this at lunchtime and was asked when we would like it done. Whenever we replied. Got a text at 17:30 to ask if we are available TOMORROW  at 15:50 for the planning scan and can we take the PSMA PET scan disc. So all set for treatment starting next week. Having to sort out an apartment near the hospital for a couple of weeks as he predicts it will be 5 sessions on alternate week days.

  • Morning Steve, Penzance is ok,we've only ever been for the day, or a few hours, but only a few times even though we've been to Cornwall many times, maybe you could combine a holiday to Penzance and the Scilly's, PS, we've just had a lovely early morning swim in the sea.

  • Hi Stevecam,

If you do get to Penzance make sure you allow time to visit St Michaels Mount.  It's an amazing place & feels a world away from daily trauma.  Last time we went we ended up having to run across the causeway as the incoming tide was lapping at our feet.  The staff there had been watching us from the top of the mount & were having bets as to whether we would make it without wet feet Smile

  • If you are visiting St Michaels Mount then you have got to see Mousehole - you are sending us down memory lane Brian and Eddie.

  • Hi AH,  we had Christmas at Mousehole, when the kids were little, a wonderful time in a beautiful place., the people and Christmas decorations were amazing. Going back to Brian's trip over to St Michael's Mount, we stopped at Holy Island on our way to Scotland for lunch,  after being told we had 4 hours till high tide by some Geordie's working on the causeway, we had to drive through 15 inches of water to get back,  I thanked the guys for their advice.

  •     we've got to go there now, hopefully sometime this year.

    Steve (SteveCam)

  • Eddie, Holy island is right on our doorstep, well about an hour's drive.  Haven't been there for ages.

  • Morning Steve, Lots of wonderful places and people in the NE, we've only been to Holly Island 3 times, but never stopped there.

  • Interesting meeting with the GG today and we have a plan. Firstly the hospital, cardiologist and vascular surgeon reports indicate that the pulmonary embolism started as a deep vein clot somewhere? and then decided to break up and lodge in many places in the lungs. We are going to get hubby stable on the anticoagulants so regular blood tests first but he is to stay on the higher dose Apixaban for 6 months as the risks from the embolism outweigh the limitations caused by age and moderate kidney failure. His last PSA showed a slight reduction so things are stable but he still has high D-dimers and a very high Ferritin but everything else is good. Experts aren't worried about these. He is changing over from Prostap to Relugolix next week so more blood tests in a couple of weeks to check that it is doing its job and that hubby can cope with it. Depending on the results we will decide when the next full body CT scan will be taken. Chemotherapy is still a possibility but not whilst everything is under control.

Hubby wants the summer off without further treatment as he is feeling very well but we will see what the bloods say. Onwards and upwards.

  • Hello

Well that's a plan then. i love the bit "he's feeling very well". Everything under control and no worrying results = a great Summer.

Thank you for the update and take care the pair of you.

It goes without saying but I will say it again, thank you so much for your fantastic contributions to the group.

    Kind Regards - Brian.

  • Hello Alwayshope,

It sounds as though the GG & fellow medics have a solid plan going forward & are taking great care of hour husband.  The bonus at the moment is he is feeling well & fingers crossed for you both that the summer passes by without further treatment.

I think it's time for one of your ice cream treats.

    Best Wishes
