Well, that was quick. I chased the medical oncologist (Greek God) up this morning and he has had a pow wow with the radio oncologist, so I was told to speak to him as they both thought hubby was eligible for SBRT on the distant mets. Did this at lunchtime and was asked when we would like it done. Whenever we replied. Got a text at 17:30 to ask if we are available TOMORROW  at 15:50 for the planning scan and can we take the PSMA PET scan disc. So all set for treatment starting next week. Having to sort out an apartment near the hospital for a couple of weeks as he predicts it will be 5 sessions on alternate week days.

  • No bells here Steve, just kisses and cuddles - much more preferable.

  • Hi Ah,

Hugs and kisses to both of you. You are both a pillar of optimism.

    Lots of love

    Dafna

  • And another virtual hug from me for tomorrow. Have a safe journey home again and look forward to a nice relaxing weekend.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift.

  • Well everyone. That's it. FINISHED. The final tally was 10 abdominal lymph nodes plus two areas on the adrenal glands. Apparently the success rate for the adrenal gland mets is about 85% so not quite as good as for the lymph nodes but still a lot better than doing nothing. A total of 30Gy, 6Gy per session and apparently the patient tolerated the treatment well -even though he was as sick as a dog it was expected because of where the radiotherapy was targeted but they didn't want to tell him before hand. The different antiemetics seem to suit him better as he is not as tired or foggy, but has still not stopped him puking up for a couple of hours after the session. He has been handed back to the Greek God now for follow up. The first test will be the MRI'S in 2 months time so I will update then.

Lots of hugs and kisses from all concerned but they hope they don't have to see us for a third time- in the nicest possible way.

All packed ready to go home tomorrow morning and a big thank you all for your support and keeping me sane.

  • Well done to you and hubby! A difficult time for you both but you will soon be home and able to relax. I hope the treatment has worked supremely well and that your husband now goes from strength to strength.

    love to you both x

  • Well done to you both! Have a good journey home and a lovely relaxing weekend! You both deserved a nice breakfast on the beach on Saturday.

    Lots of hugs

  • AH,

Thank you for letting us follow your husbands journey, you've been an excellent recorder of events, you've talked us through a complicated and difficult time and made it familiar and less scary for us. Safe journey home, you've both been amazing. Heart eyesx

  • Alwayshope, "All Systems Finished"

Bet you are both glad about that!  Hope hubby recovers soon and it'll soon be 2 months, and fingers crossed for the MRI results.  I'm sure they will be fine.

Just think, you could get some more lacy bits to celebrate!

  • What are you doing up so early Steve?

I have an excuse to be up as we just want to get home. Hubby is bright eyed and bushy tailed raring to get going, wanting to know if I have any chocolate brownies left for the journey home so obviously not feeling too icky.

You obviously have us women sussed. I went out yesterday afternoon whilst hubby was having his siesta and did have a bit of a splurge, but not lacy bits. There was something in the bag for hubby as well so conscience salved.
