Well, that was quick. I chased the medical oncologist (Greek God) up this morning and he has had a pow wow with the radio oncologist, so I was told to speak to him as they both thought hubby was eligible for SBRT on the distant mets. Did this at lunchtime and was asked when we would like it done. Whenever we replied. Got a text at 17:30 to ask if we are available TOMORROW at 15:50 for the planning scan and can we take the PSMA PET scan disc. So all set for treatment starting next week. Having to sort out an apartment near the hospital for a couple of weeks as he predicts it will be 5 sessions on alternate week days.
Dafna, I didn't know about the terminal clause. Glad you got sorted though.

Thanks, Steve. We have solved the problem by switching banks! The offer of £175 for switching offsets the extra cost of insurance in year 1. My husband is 78 in July so we know that , come his 80 th birthday, costs are going to go through the roof
Here we go again. Hubby has developed bone mets in shoulder and thigh which means we are currently having another 'holiday' in Athens. The planning scan was done yesterday and he was fitted with a face mask (I will leave it to your imagination what my comment was) and is being treated on the same machine as he had the SBRT last April. He has been put on corticosteroids and pain killers because the treatment can, apparently, cause bone pain from day 3 of the 5 day course but this should only last for a few days so we have been warned. All the previous radiotherapy sessions in 2020 and 2024 are stable but the cancer is beginning to spread to other areas which mean a more systemic approach is going to be needed. The doctors have said that hubby is a lot stronger both physically and mentally than most men of his age and feel that he should be able to cope even though he is now 81. Each session has a psychologist in attendance as they believe mental wellbeing is just as important as physical wellbeing.
Hubby has already forked out for lacy bits as an early Valentines present.
Good Evening Alwayshope
My best wishes go to you and your husband and I do hope this Radiotherapy treatment does the trick - my thoughts are with you both at this time.
I fully understand the mental stress this treatment can cause.
You two take care and I wish you positive results.
Kind Regards - Brian xx

Strength, Courage, Faith, Hope, Defiance, VICTORY.
I am a Macmillan volunteer.
When I first got this blasted illness I knew it could be treated, and I knew that the treatment was effective.
Nonetheless, when my oncologist said that there were "plenty more tools in the box" I still didn't fully understand exactly what that meant until I spent quite a bit of time on this group.
I understand a lot more now, and your example, with Brian's, is always in with me.
Here's hoping that the radiotherapy puts the cancer on the back foot again.
Will be thinking of you both.
Steve
Changed, but not diminished.
Hi Alwayshope - sorry to hear this: I was hoping that your remission would last longer. Anyway, it seems that the GG has everything under control and that you’re both ready for “blast off” (yet again). AW
Hi Alwayhope,
I wish you and your husband all the best for his upcoming RT, I hope it zaps the little buggers good and proper .
all the best
Tony
I sincerely hope your husband's treatment is successful and as trouble-free as possible.
Love the lacy bits!
Derek.
