Hi Guys its me again well firstly thank you for being so warming from my newbies post i have now had Zoladex LA 10.8mg First Injection Complete (29.02.2024) What To expect from here i was wondering if the gracious chaps and ladies could kindly help with what to expect as still not seen an oncologist only nurses (who are lovely) but very much oh it will be fine i mean this in a nice way.

So am i right tothink this with the 28 day course of tablets will slow down the cancer growth and i am wondering when it starts grabbing hold and also how would i know if it is actually starting to work do you think i would go for another psa test im sure this will be a daft question as im very unsure if this stops the cancer growing or stops it.

Reaching out to my lovely urology nurses they seemed really unconcerned about treatment and said i will hear from my oncology doctor soon for an appontment but just need a bit of undersanding and reassurance.

i have updated my profile hope you all having a good week

just as anote i have been on the tablets now 9 days and injection yesterday and to be fair feel no different i remember reading millibobs reply saying he was 6 months in before and side effects i hope this makes sense i look forward to hearing back from you guys

  • Haha!  I had my Zolo about 6 weeks ago. Yep,hot flushes, which never seem to coincide with when I’m somewhere cold though? :-). I have found it difficult to get to sleep and after the ‘get up to go’ it’s been difficult to get back off. A friend of mine is also on hormones for his PC. He said the he’d started to get ‘moobs. Luckily, I haven’t. Our humorous comments are largely around me having a penchant for fluffy pink mules as a side effect. I went online and copied a photo of some and posted it on our family WhatsApp group. And of course, a couple of days later Amazon sends me an advert ‘do you need some new slippers? With the exact photo of the one I posted to the family group! Hahaha!

  • Hi Budy glad you are having a great time in turkey if you ever in norwich a pnt it is have to be positive about things as  still really do not understand it all ha hahave a great day

  • Hey There Warrior Of The Alpines I am now on my last four days of biclutamide tablets (or whjat ever they are called and had my zoladex just over two weeks ago i finally have my appointment with my concologist on the 27th of this month so thats 13 weeks after first psa testing no idea if this is slow or normal i guess here we will discuss treatment plans on wheter i can have the brach teherapy or not we will see still bloody confused about it all though hope you are doing good and enjoying the sun

  • You are doing fine - keep with the vibes and the positive attitude and you will sail through this. Anyone with a personalised avatar is a winner!!

The nitty - gritty is you have a very aggressive type of Prostate Cancer - the Hormone therapy has now stopped the cancer in it's tracks - but you need further treatment to kill it off - that's your oncologist meeting later this month.

Last time I was in Norwich was to watch football - now Oldham are in the National League it may be somewhile before I am back - but I am always open to offers - I do like a decent pint of Green King!!

Oh - and keep asking questions - we are all here for you.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Thank you brian for your kind words that word aggresive is a scary one

i am getting on positively but my feet keep bloody seelling up need to do more walking i reckon

    have a great day

  • Hello

Ah, sorry about that - it's me. On your diagnosis you are a Gleason 8 - until checked by the Hormone Therapy - the little sods would have been growing quite fast  - nothing to worry about now as your PSA has already dropped - the HT is working.

Walking is one of the best ways to combat the fatigue - in England at weekend I do it with my dogs - but they keep leading me to the local pub. In Turkey it's different - I have a longish walk and have to find my own way there - not too hard.

It's a balance between keeping fit and fighting fatigue and still having a decent quality of life.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • I love walking so thats good strange thing about this prostate malarkey and other problems like you i feel actually fine ehen i had my hips & knees replaced that was painful lol lol

  • Hi Millibob. A query on the matter of moobs! I have been on Zoladex for approx 3 months so far and destined to be for at least a further 4. Having already experienced some development up top, is this likely to continue throughout my injections? Just wondering what your expetience was and what I might expect. Starting my RT for 20 sessions in 10 days' time.

I'm now 12+ months clear of my RT and HT and my most recent PSA test came back at <0.05 which is obviously very encouraging.

I think I have read everything I can find about prostate cancer but one thing puzzles me. I understand that if my PSA rises within certain parameters I may be offered more HT(which would be fine by me) BUT would this be because an increasing PSA would 'feed' any residual cancer (so needed to be lowered again) or because it was a sign that the cancer was already coming back?

  • Hi  .

My husband's moobs took a few months to fully develop, but stopped growing after that. If you are worried about this side effect then ask your doctor if you can be given Tamoxifen which can help to limit the development, but ideally it should be started as soon as possible.

All the best for your 'sunbed' sessions and come back with any more questions.

  • Hi  , my experience was early growth and they were uncomfortable doing exercise involving jumping, but after a couple of years they settled down.

    Best wishes, David
