Dear Friends I am newly diagnosed with some bone metastases . I am not really for full disclosure yet as I am having difficulty processing my illness . One quick question I have is 2 days after my prostate biopsy and 2 days into my hormone pills I am suffering significant bone pain in my body hips legs and back . I am having to take regular paracetamol to help . I was warned by a nurse that I may expect this but is this common and how long does it last . I hope to become an active member of this forum when I have my head in the right place . I also suffer from OCD which is making this more difficult
Hello Skippy1959 A warm welcome to the online Prostate Cancer Community.
I fully appreciate your circumstances and will try and answer your question without your full details.
Hormone Therapy does affect your bone structure and your care team should have advised you to add Calcium/Vitamin D tablets to your medication as the HT can cause your bones to weaken.
HT also can cause osteoporosis however short term it can affect your bones and give you pain as you have experienced. I don't have personal experience of this however and am unsure how long it may last - I am sure someone with more experience of this will be along to give you a time scale.
I hope this helps a little and you have some answers soon - in the meanwhile please don't feel under any pressure to add any further details at present, but you are most welcome here and I appreciate your difficulties.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi There
It does take time to get your head around it.
I was hit with being a T4 out of the blue and it had spread to lymph nodes and multiple bones
I was started on hormone tablets that they give you to prevent tumour flare before starting the HT injections and the day after starting them I felt like I had been beaten up.
It seemed every bone and joint hurt.
It does eventually wear off or you get used to it - not sure which
I could only take paracetamol as I cant take ibuprofen tablets.
One thing that did help was getting a plug in heated 'blanket' from Amazon.
They do different sizes but I think the one I got was around £20
The heat helps to mask the pain
Hope this helps
Thanks for the insight I too feel all my bones and joints hurts and I find my hot water bottle helps
I have now bought a heat blanket from Amazon . Good suggestion works well .
