Jim 788 here been using enzalutamide for some time now as I went from a relatively low reading starting to increase my consultant has kept me on the drug my PSA reading was 127 just before Christmas If my PSA is still raising naturally its not working is there any other drug options?

  • Hi

It's natural to want to know what treatment options there will be if the drug you're currently on stops working.

I can see that you posed this question in the ask a nurse section of the online community recently and wondered if you'd seen the reply. If not clicking here will take you straight to it.

  • Hi Jim

Iam on the same treatment, although I have advanced PC. Once I had the chemo and radiotherapy I went on to prostap three monthly injections, now over four years later I’am on enzalutamide, when they started me on this, I always asked what’s the plan B if this does not work, there’s a few options, Aberaterone with prednisone or radium 223, or chemo again which might be a different one to docetaxel.

Also there are a few trials out there that you can enlist for, if none of the other treatments are not available you need to ask, 127 is fairly high have you been given chemo ? Or radiotherapy ? Look up what’s new out there on the web, but go to reputable sites.

    stay safe

Thanks for being there my PSA is now 175 my consultant is ringing me on 21st hopefully will know my options

  • Hi Jim

Thats a fairly fast rise, when I consulted with my oncologist, he gave a few options like I mentioned, write down all you want to ask him/her ready for the call, it’s easy to let things slip your mind once they start talking, you need to know what’s next.

    stay safe
