Peritoneal Stage 3C

I was diagnosed with Peritonal Stage 3C in Feb with a C125 of 3999. Very shocking as minimal symptoms of bloating over time. My stomach started to swell with fluid which prompted the doctors visit. I had been reviewed 2 years earlier and told all was clear.  Unfortunately I now know the C125 was on the rise then. I started chemo in May and seem to be tolerating it quite well. I am really hoping for surgery. This will include the Omentum as I know i have tumors there.

Any shared experience would be very helpful.

Thanks LauraC

  • Hi. I was diagnosed with stage 111C  Primary Peritoneal Cancer ,early January. I’m lucky I haven’t had any issues with ascites unlike some people. . I’ve had four lots of chemotherapy and I had my debulking surgery 3wks ago. The surgeon told me ,she had removed all visible signs of cancer ,I am also BRAC2 positive. I think I will behaving another 3rounds of chemotherapy, and then possibly start on a Parp Inhibitor.

  • Hi Karen I just wondered how you are doing. My mum is having similar to yourself and she is having the surgery inbetween Christmas and new year, then 2 more chemo. She has already had 4.

i am worried how she will be after surgery. How are you? It’s hard to find people to talk too that have had similar cancer. Hope you are doing well x

  • Hi. I recovered very well from surgery ,I had 54 staples , and was up and about in two days . I was discharged on the third day . She just needs to listen to her body , and rest when she needs too. I had an issue with my bladder after surgery , as the surgeon had perforated it , apparently it can happen during surgery. I had to have a catheter in for three weeks , while it repaired itself. I finished intravenous chemo at the end of July. Because I am BRCA 2 positive I now take Olaparib which is a maintenance chemo , I take this for two years . I’m currently having CT with contrast every three months ,hoping and praying i don’t have a recurrence.

  • Thank you so much for your reply, I hope you things go well for you. Take care and have a lovely Christmas

  • Hi karen

i just wondered how you are doing?

my mum has had the operation but no chemo yet, she has a CT scan tmrw and I’m abit worried as she is having burning feeling in her tummy which she had when she was first diagnosed. Do you get this at all? Hope you are doing as well as you can x

  • Hi. Did they manage to remove all visible signs of cancer . Not sure what the burning pain is , is it very painful for her ? My CA125 has gone from 5 to 6 I have bloods again on the 10th im hoping it hasn’t risen anymore . I’m continuing with the Olaparib with very little issues tbh . Was your mum okay after her op .

  • Yes they said the operation had gone well but she has really struggled mentally afterwards so they delayed the chemo, she was supposed to to have 2 afterwards so just hoping that hasn’t affected anything.

    did you have chemo afterwards.

Pleased you are okay and fingers crossed the bloods stay the same x
