Hi all, I joined this group for some support and hints tips ideas on how I can support my sister through this. She also has a 38yr old disabled daughter who needs assistance. I'm 71 and finding it difficult. It takes alot of energy and mental stress. Our other sister lives 4hrs away and comes when she can. I also would like more insight into this particular cancer. TIA

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I'm not a member of this group, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

You said that you would like more information about this type of cancer so you might find this information from Macmillan helpful.

As for how you can help your sister, I'd start by asking her what she'd like you to do. Lots of people will say things like "just ask if you want anything doing" but the person needing help might feel uncomfortable doing that. Instead asking what she needs you to do gives her the opportunity of telling you.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your sister's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
