I never expected it to go up again so soon, I've been 'lucky' my marker has often been around 34 something, it shot up and then finished chemo (2nd time round from 3 years ago) and marker was 68 in April, I've been getting pain in my right rib now my sternum, hurts to breathe cough laugh now pain gone to left rib, call oncologist had a blood test marker suddenly gone to 127 so now they're calling for CT scan.. :( how can it go up again so soon, i've been doing so well and keeping so positive and having so many holistic therapies also which I know has helped during chemo as the side effects weren't as severe this time when identical the first time ....
Hi Melnie,
So sorry to read your post - and, as someone who also finished chemo less than 2 months ago, with CA125 in normal range, I can only imagine how it feels to have it rising again so soon .
It’ll be tough, but please try not to let this dent your positivity - you’ve worked so hard to get to where you are already, and you and your medical team are addressing this very speedily, which has to give you the best possible chance of winning this fight.
Stay strong - you can do this !
Much love Bxx
ah thank you so much B, your lovely message made me cry, in a good way thank you for caring....
Be grear to hear how you get on Melnie, if you feel like posting here again - meanwhile, be thinking of you
Love Bxx
Hi , how are things going ?
my c125 did exactly the same , it’s so hard to pick yourself back up and remain positive but we have no choice ️
Hi Melnie and Deblorraine,
Hope you’re both getting through this and managing to stay positive despite everything
I too am back having chemo - was starting to get a few symptoms returning (bloating, urgency to pee) just before my 3-month check post chemo, Then at my check, CT confirmed the cancer has returned, and my CA125, having been around 19 since surgery and first chemo, was up to 79 !
Can’t quite believe I’m back here so soon when everything was looking so positive, but I’m afraid that’s just how this cruel disease works.
As you say, we have no choice but to pick ourselves up and keep fighting.
Big hugs and very best wishes to you both on your journeys,
Bxx
Thank you and yes as you say we have no choice, we have to keep going cos the alternative sadly is only rolling over and letting this disease engulf us, wouldn't it be nice if we could have a magic pill or a vaccination for cancer? What lessons can we learn from this? I'm still trying and one lesson I have learnt is to not beat ourselves up, cancer thrives on self-loathing, we all need to be kinder to ourselves, do things that make us happy and easier said that done I know, but try try try to live in the moment and be happy as much as possible. - love and light to you all x
I’m also about to start my third round of chemo , I’ve never really been in remission from the start. My lowest C125 was 46 it’s now fluctuating between 80 and 120 . Recent scan results were not good , it’s now spread to right lung , had another chest scan last week and an MRI booked for Sunday. I don’t get chance to breath before I’m back on the wheel again , it’s never ending .
x
Hi Melnie,
Agree with you 100%…….. since my cancer came back and platinum resistance reduced my options for future treatment, I definitely try to live in the moment, do things that make me happy, and look forward to near rather than long-term plans.
Now waiting rather anxiously for October 21st, when I see my oncologist, to find out what impact my first cycle on the Taxol only regime has had on my CA125 and on the OC progressing.
Sending positive vibes your way,
Bx
Good luck to you bpositive , Melanie and Deblorraine . I am in a similar position , My cancer returned by ascites and I have been drained four times in ten weeks . Have had my first three taxol only and now have a week off before I start my next three weekly treatments . Hoping and praying that the ascites will go away . I was only drained last Tuesday then chemo Thursday . For now my abdomen is soft and I hope it stays that way . Thinking of you all and wishing you all the luck in the world with this cruel disease and like you I live from day to day !
Thank you Daisy, so sorry to hear about Ascites though my chemo buddy had that and had to be drained a few times, I'll pray that you stay soft and not have to go through that again and also hopefully my pain in my middle will go soon, it seems to be moving and he said there are deposits on my liver now and higher stomach so guess that's why it hurts sometimes in my middle or when I take a deep deep breath..
