Hi I’m new here my 8 yo son was diagnosed with burkitt lymphoma in September he’s now in remission and he’s doing great he’s certainly emotionally recovered and his body is getting there. I came on here because I’m really struggling and what I’m finding harder is having no one to talk to that understands and having to lock away every emotion because people don’t get it or to hide it from the kids takes it’s toll. I wondered if there’s any other mums on here free to talk about how they have or are getting through it? Xx
Hi and welcome, though sorry to read about your sons diagnosis, the are a small number of parents who post across the lymphoma groups, some post more than others. You may want to join the carers group as well or Lymphoma Action have support options too where you can talk to others https://lymphoma-action.org.uk/support-you.
Since the site was updated the lymphoma groups have not been as busy as they used to be, hence the suggestions above.
Sadly we have all experienced what you are in some way or another as once treatment ends people think that's it and its back to normal, sadly that is never the case. You may want to read this paper to and it may help you, its an old paper but still very relevant https://www.workingwithcancer.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/After-the-treatment-finishes-then-what.pdf
regards
John
