Hi, I don't say much on this forum but I read most things connected with my Cancer. I live in Tenerife and all my treatment has been through the Spanish health system which is free for pension age residents. I was diagnosed in December 2023 started treatment immediately in July 2024 I was given a Stem cell transplant using my own cells and although things were hard I made it through.

in October 2024 and again October 2025 I had a Bone Marrow Biopsy  both indicated that Minimal Resistance was negative which basically means all clear ish.

in January 2026 I began to feel dizzy with headaches I was taken into hospital where it transpired my Electrolytes were critically low,  since that time I have been detained in hospital on 3 further occasions each time with the same problem which is fixed by I/V drips of Calcium potassium and Magnesium. on each occasion I was detained for 2 nights until my bloods were normal.

I have now been referred to the Endocrinology department for tests.

My question is has anyone else had a problem of Low electrolytes, if so could you let me know.

I am currently on 5mg of Lenalidomide 21days on 7 days off and have been on this side for over 12 months.

Cheers

  • Hi   let’s look first some of the group members with first hand experience to pick up on your post.

Different Blood Cancer for me (2 rare types of T-Cell NHL)…… but having had 2 Allogenic (donor) Stem Cell Transplants (June 2024 then Oct 2015) I had various problems including Electrolytes issues being just one.

As I was regularly checked for a few years post SCT things like this were picked up and I was given various support like Calcium, potassium, Magnesium…. But 8+ years out these issues have all stopped…

Going through SCT can certainly upset the chemical balance in the body and it can take time for everything to calm down
