Hello Everyone.
I'm Flogo and I was diagnosed multiple myeloma on the 6th April 2022.
At the moment im on watch and wait. However I'm getting rather concerned.
My paraprotein was 37 then went to 41, my biopsy was positive, my light chains, well I can't remember them. What level would they need to be for him to be worried.
I know their lambda if that makes sense.
I'm constantly tired
Nausea 24/7 and Vomiting
Nose bleeds
Aching hips and pain in my left leg
Itchy red skin on and off
Extreme thirst and mot able to help it
Headaches and blurry vision. ( had eye test)
I'm seeing him on the 8th for the results of my recent blood test.
Hi Flojo and a warm welcome to this corner of the Community although I am always sorry to see folks joining us. I am Mike and I help out around our various Blood Cancer groups. I don’t have Myeloma but I was diagnosed back in 1999 with a rare, incurable type of NHL Stage 4a so although my Blood Cancer ‘type’ is different I understand the challenges of this journey well.
I am so sorry to hear about the challenges you are having. Do ensure that you have a good list of your various challenges and make sure you get a chance to ask about the things that are top of your list….. don’t be pushed out the door thinking “I wish I had asked?” also make sure you have the name and contact info for a nurse contact who you can contact when required.
There have been a few new folks joined this group over the past weeks so let's look for them to pick up on your post. If you hit this link Myeloma it will take you to the group home page and this is where you can look through the other posts and as always you can hit reply to any post and connect with others.
The Macmillan Support Line is open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00 or via Webchat and Email too. This service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just a listening ear and our Cancer Nurse Team in our Ask an Expert section may be helpful but do allow a few working days for a reply.
Talking to people face to face can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing and do run Hematology Support Groups.
Always around to chat.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
