Hi
I have been reading posts in here for the last 2 months since going to GP with a mole on my face that appeared in 2017, somehow I had convinced myself that it had always been present. Coincidently so did everyone I know not notice it changing. Was only when looking at old pictures did I realise.
Anyway turns out to have been a Melanoma in Situ. Having studied cancer at university not overly worried about that. Had my wide local excision this morning to get the margins right.
My consultant who did the op is great and did a whole body exam to check others. Found a mole between my toes that I had never seen before and it is not small. He is clearly not keen on it as made plenty of notes about it.
He had already told me that I would be monitored in further appointments (how regular are these?) And he said usually for a year but I may be done for 3 years. I know the NICE guidelines say that I should be discharged after 1 further appointment so.wonder why being checked.
To put in context did have some issues getting pathology results back to me and I ended up having to communicate with PALS at the hospital to get the info. Since then dermatology have contacted me loads and had the WLE within 2 weeks of that contact with PALS.
Just wondering what next stages are and Domingo to GP with mole in my toes or wait to see what dermatology dept want to do.
Thanks
Hi you should get a full year of checks , every 3 months like I do . I had 1a mm diagnosed December . Like yourself I had bother with my local nhs and had to go to my local msp who chased them up regarding biopsy and wle . Since then they have been great but was stressful at the time to chase up getting a biopsy etc . They said it was the usual “ due to covid “ as for toe mole go back to GP and maybe get referral back as we all know sooner mm are found the far better outcome
Thanks for your response.
I have been told my next appointment with dermatology is middle of Novemeber. Got the online letter today. So will see what they say at that.
Working on making sure scar on my face fits in as much as possible.
Hi
Having now ahd my November check up, the mole on my toe is coming off, had grown over the months and they described it as very atypical. Will be having surgery in the next 2 weeks or so. Hopefully comes back as nothing, if melanoma, it is just weird that would have had 2 opposite ends of body at the same time.
Will see what happens
Hi
How are you doing?
Have you had the mole on your toe removed yet?
Take care
x
Hi.
Yes had it removed 2 weeks ago. Did have to do some chasing to get the appointment which was annoying. Had a few stitches which made it awkward to walk amd get a shoe on.
All on the mend now. Just waiting for the results, with Christmas and holidays who knows when that will be. Hopefully it was nothing but having had melanoma once not taking it for granted.
Thanks for checking in on me. Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Hi
Glad to hear things are on the mend and I'll be keeping everything crossed for you.
Do come back and let us know when you get your results.
